Melanoma Awareness

Melanoma Monday 5/5/2014

SPOT Orange on Melanoma Monday. As a way to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer, and to encourage early detection through self-exams, the American Academy of Dermatology designates the first Monday in May as Melanoma Monday®. Help us paint the nation by wearing orange on Monday May 5 2014– Melanoma Monday. Current estimates are that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer. You can prevent and detect skin cancer:

  • Prevent: Seek shade, cover up, and wear sunscreen
  • Detect: Look for new or changing spots on your skin
  • Live: See a Dermatologist if you spot anything changing

You can download the American Academy of Dermatology’s Body Mole Map to document your self examination.
