CoolSculpting: Because Summer Bodies Are Made in Winter
For many people, the holidays bring great food, lots of cheer, and a couple more pounds. Indulgence isn’t the only reason. Reduced physical activity, water retention, and other factors contribute to seasonal weight gain.
Holiday weight spawns many New Year’s resolutions, and sticking to yours is the best way to look beach-ready for the warmer months. However, even for those who put in the hard work, some extra pounds often won’t go away.
To get you across the goal line in achieving the perfect summer look, consider CoolSculpting®. At three New York City locations, Dr. Javier Zelaya and the team at Skinworks Dermatology help patients overcome weight loss hurdles with techniques such as CoolSculpting.
Obstacles to reaching your ideal shape
How much weight you lose depends on more than working out and eating right, though both are key in maintaining an ideal body weight. Biology also plays a crucial role, specifically in how metabolism works.
Your metabolism burns calories through healthy eating and physical activity, but it also continues to work while you rest. Your metabolic rate determines the amount of energy you burn when inactive, and losing weight can slow it down, making it harder to lose more weight.
Genetic traits affect metabolism, so inherited genes may also contribute to stubborn weight.
The CoolSculpting process
CoolSculpting (fat freezing or cryolipolysis) freezes fat cells to remove stubborn pounds. The FDA approves this treatment to eliminate fat from under your chin, upper back, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, love handles (hips and flank), abdomen, and under the buttocks.
We begin this noninvasive procedure by marking the shape and size of the targeted fat deposit with a skin-marking pencil. We apply a protective gel pad to your skin and use a hand-held applicator to freeze the fat cells, gradually bringing the temperature as low as 30.2°F.
You may experience tugging, stinging, aching, and cramping sensations during the application. But CoolSculpting requires little to no recovery time.
Treatment can take up to a couple of hours, and we massage the area afterward to help break down the fat cells. Your immune system eliminates the dead cells from your body.
Expect to notice results within 1-3 months following your treatment, which is why you want to get started this winter to be ready for summer.
If you’re ready to shed those stubborn pounds, contact Skinworks Dermatology to see if CoolSculpting is right for you. Call our office in Maspeth, Chelsea, or Park Slope, or request your appointment online today.
